User Interviews User Evaluation- Hamar municipality

In 2007-2008 a User Interviews User-evaluation was carried out in Hamar municipality. The evaluation was conducted during the period of the National Escalation Plan for mental health (1999-2010).

A total of 29 users of Hamar municipality’s mental health service were interviewed. The main goal was to assess the municipal services from a service user perspective . The evaluation was planned and organized by a project group, consisting of Åse Jofrid Søby, Georg Moland, Dagfinn Bjørgen and Heidi Westerlund.

The evaluation includes feedback to services for rehabilitation and habilitation. The participants felt that flexibility, conversations and practical daily exercises and assistance lead to a better way of coping with everyday life. One of the wishes from service users was the establishment of out of office hours mental health care. Another important feedback to the municipality was that community centres are important for experiencing empowerment and quality of life.

The report also includes users’ feedback on the re-establishment of NAV (Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration) in the municipality in 2007-2008. Service users with substance abuse problems were not included in this evaluation.
